Limits, timing and billing

Request limits, how often to check results, the time limit and when you are charged.

Request limits

Up to 1,200 requests per minute per account (all keys together, result checks included), and up to 2,400 per minute from one IP address. Above that the reply is ERROR_TOO_MANY_REQUESTS; wait a few seconds and continue.

How often to check

Wait about 5 seconds after createTask, then call getTaskResult every 5 seconds. To check many tasks at once with the form API, use res.php with ids (up to 100 ids in one request). To skip checking, use a callback or getToken.
res.php
curl -s "https://unlock-api.com/res.php?key=YOUR_API_KEY&action=get&ids=1001,1002,1003"
# 03AGdBq25SxXT...|CAPCHA_NOT_READY|ERROR_CAPTCHA_UNSOLVABLE

Time limit

A task that is not solved within 5 minutes fails with ERROR_CAPTCHA_UNSOLVABLE. Tokens expire on the target site after a short time (about 2 minutes for reCAPTCHA), so use them soon after you get them.

When you are charged

The price is taken from the balance when createTask accepts the task. If the task fails or runs out of time, the full price goes back to the balance by itself. Requests refused with an error are free. getBalance, getTaskResult and the other read methods are free.

What we keep

Images, audio and proxy details sent with a task are deleted when the task ends. The task record (type, time, status, cost) stays in your task history.
